Design The Standard Challenge

Design the Standard is an open design challenge inviting interior designers, creatives, students, and design enthusiasts to reimagine what a co-working space can look and feel like. We are looking for a full interior concept that transforms our new floor plan into an inspiring, functional, and welcoming environment that reflects the SOSS community.
The Challenge Objective
Create a cohesive interior design concept for our new space that is:
Inviting, inspiring, and functional
Reflective of the SOSS values of community, inclusivity, and creativity
Designed to support a variety of work styles, from focused work to collaboration and presentations
Mindful of accessibility, sustainability, durability, and real-world implementation
​We're looking for ideas that balance bold creativity with practical solutions and help create a workspace people genuinely love spending time in.
Who Can Participate?
Everyone is welcome to enter.

Whether you're a professional designer, student, recent graduate, creative professional, or simply someone with a passion for design, we'd love to see your vision. Entries may be submitted by individuals or teams of any size, and participation is completely free.
What You'll Submit
Your submission should tell the story of your design concept and demonstrate how it would transform the future Standard Office Space location.

Participants will be asked to provide:
A Design Concept Statement outlining the vision, inspiration, and thinking behind the design.
A Mood Board showcasing the aesthetic direction, colours, materials, furniture, and overall atmosphere.
An Annotated Floor Plan illustrating how the space will function and how key areas are designed.
A Materials & Finishes Outline highlighting key design selections and finishes.
A Budget Awareness Statement demonstrating consideration for practical implementation within a non-profit environment.
Finalist Presentations
Shortlisted finalists will be invited to present their concepts to the judging panel, either in person or virtually. Presentations will be followed by a brief question-and-answer session.

Prize & Recognition
The winning submission will receive:
A $1,000 cash prize
12 months of complimentary co-working membership at the new Standard Office Space location
Recognition and promotion through SOSS channels and community events
An invitation to the new location launch celebration
The opportunity to have their design concept help guide the future interior fit-out of the space
